Xpress Elite Fall Brawl

3-0 pool play, 2-1 bracket play, 2nd place 🥈 

 

Scream began their tournament against PA Xtreme. After Xtreme put up a run in the first, Taylor Wilson and Anna Davidson each responded with RBIs in Scream’s half of the inning. Tessa Sarianos added another run in the second inning, extending the lead to two runs. Gennie Aul, Davidson, and Ella Lee each plated a run in the third. Davidson picked up her third RBI of the game in the fifth with a double. Megan Sparks pitched 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, good enough for a 7-3 win.

 

Game 2 versus Pegasus Black started off the same, as Wilson and Aul drove in two early runs. An inning later, Abby Gray scored on a wild pitch and Sparks drove in Charley LaBarbera via a groundout. Bella Rosselli, Lyla Plummer, Wilson, Aul, and Davidson picked up RBIs in the fourth, allowing starter Lee (4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER) to cruise to an 11-3 win. 

 

Saturday’s final game was a high-scoring affair with Xpress Elite. Scream would score eleven runs in the first inning following an Aul 2-run double, Lee 2-run double, Gray single, Sparks groundout, Abby Heidrich single, Plummer triple, and Davidson single. However, Xpress responded with nine runs (one earned) over the next two innings, chasing starter Davidson from the game. Heidrich pitched 2.2 innings in relief, surrendering one unearned run, while striking out three, and Scream would hold on to a 12-10 win. 

 

Scream entered Sunday as the second overall seed and their first-round opponent was Pegasus Black. After two two-out hits, Davidson hit a three-run home run, her first of the fall season. An inning later, Sparks drove in another run to give Scream a four run lead. After Heidrich walked to load the bases, Plummer hit a grand slam to bust the game open at 8-0. Gray added on two more runs with a single in the third. Davidson pitched a solid 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 8 hitters, leading to a 10-1 win.


 

Scream’s semifinal opponent was Blue Angels - Schwartz. Davidson opened the scoring with an RBI single, which was followed by back-to-back doubles from Rosselli and Sparks in the second inning. The offense would put up eight runs in the fourth, clinching a spot in the championship game. Gray, LaBarbera, Rosselli, Sparks, and Plummer all had RBIs in the inning. Starter Sparks pitched a 3-hit shutout over 4 innings of work, striking out 1 batter.

 

The championship game was versus East Brandywine Impact. After four innings, Impact led 4-0, but Sparks cut into the deficit with an RBI in the fifth. However, the opposition would score five time in their half of the inning, ending the game 9-1. Heidrich pitched 4+ innings and surrendered 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 1 strikeout.

 

Up Next: Scream will take next weekend off before returning to action Saturday, October 11 where they will play in the Scream Fall Classic in Sellersville, PA.
