Scream began their tournament versus Rock Gold Waye. Taylor Wilson registered an early RBI single, but the opposition responded with four runs in their half of the first. Two innings later, a Wilson RBI double and Anna Davidson three-run home run would give the girls a 5-4 lead. However, Rock Gold scored five unanswered runs over the next two innings, ending in a 9-5 defeat. Davidson pitched 4 innings and surrendered 9 runs on 11 hits, striking out 2.

Pool play continued against Wolves Fastpitch. Gennie Aul plated a run in the first via a double, while Abby Gray drove in two and Maci Reifsnyder drove in one an inning later. Six more runs came across in the third following a Wilson double, Ella Lee single, Bella Rosselli double, and Lyla Plummer single. Lee tacked on another RBI in the fourth for the team’s 11th run. Rosselli cruised over 4 innings of work on the mound, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, enough for an 11-1 win.

Saturday’s action concluded with another strong offensive showing versus NJ Cyclones. Nine different batters recorded a hit, with Aul (2 2B, RBI), Lee (2B, 2 RBI), Gray (3 RBI), and Josa Burris all recording multiple hits. The girls put up another 11-spot, allowing starter Lee (5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 3 K) to convert a strong pitching performance into an 11-4 win. This win helped clinch the top seed in Scream’s pool heading into Sunday.

Bracket play began against SJ Thunder. Another fine display with the bats carried the team to a 12-0 victory. Aul, Davidson, and Lee each recorded two RBIs, but the game was capped off with a Plummer grand slam to clinch a run-rule win. Lee pitched a 3-inning shutout, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 5 batters.

The semifinal game was a rematch versus Rock Gold Waye. The opposition got out to an early 3-0 in the first inning, but Scream responded with three of their own to tie the game after one. With two outs, Aul hit an RBI single, and Charley LaBarbera hit a two-run double. After a scoreless second inning, Rock Gold took the lead again via a groundout in the top of the third. In the home half of the inning, Wilson reached on an error to lead off the inning before Aul hit a go-ahead two-run home run, giving Scream a 5-4 lead. Starter Abby Heidrich (4 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 K) would slam the door on Rock Gold, aided by Wilson nabbing the tying run at second on a caught stealing, clinching a spot in the championship game.

The title game was another rematch, this time versus NJ Cyclones. Following a Heidrich single to start the game, Wilson and Davidson each hit doubles to give the girls an early 2-0 lead. Davidson tacked on another run in the third via a sacrifice fly. Gray continued her strong weekend in the fourth with an RBI single and Lee added an insurance run in the fifth before time ran out. Scream clinched their second title of the fall season with a 5-0 win. Starter Davidson dominated over 5 innings of work, pitching a 2-hit shutout with 5 strikeouts.
