Sting's Spooky Showdown

18u-Open - October 25-26 - Emmaus, PA

1-1-1 pool play, 0-1 bracket play, 9th place

The girls began their weekend against Pocono Pride Scarlet. Charley LaBarbera got a run across in the first after she stole home. In the third, Gennie Aul hit a sacrifice fly and Anna Davidson hit an RBI single to extend the lead to three runs. Josa Burris added another in the fourth and the team manufactured two more runs before time ran out. Davidson pitched 5 innings and allowed 1 run on 6 hits, striking out 2 hitters, leading the way to a 6-1 win.

Game two of pool play was versus Xtreme. The opposition scored a run early, and it would remain 1-0 until the fourth inning. Davidson hit an inside-the-park home run to tie the game. Xtreme responded with a run of their own to make the score 2-1. Megan Sparks would score on a passed ball in the fifth to tie the game again. Xtreme scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, but LaBarbera would tie the game with her third hit of the game. With two outs, Davidson gave her team the lead with an RBI single. However, Xtreme tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, and the game would end 4-4. Abby Heidrich pitched all 7 innings, allowed 4 runs on 10 hits and struck out 2.

Game three was a 19-2 loss to Emmaus Sting. LaBarbera and Sparks each had an RBI for Scream.

Sunday’s first round matchup was a rematch vs Xtreme. The opposition scored twice in the first on errors, but RBI singles from Bella Rosselli and Sparks tied the game 2-2 in the second. An inning later, Taylor Wilson hit an RBI triple and then scored on an error to give Scream a 4-2 lead. Abby Gray followed this up with an RBI triple of her own to make the score 5-2. However, Xtreme would score five runs over the next two innings to give them a 7-5 lead. The girls rallied in the sixth, but it was not enough, and Scream fell. Heidrich pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 earned runs with 2 strikeouts. She gave way to Davidson, who allowed 1 earned run over her 1 inning of work.

Up Next: The girls prepare for their final weekend of 2025, where they will play in USSSA’s Fall State Championship.
