16u-B - Hagerstown, MD - June 13-14

1-2 pool play, 2-1 bracket play, 3rd place 🥉

Scream began their tournament versus Complete Game Academy. Anna Davidson provided a first-inning RBI to open the scoring, and added another in the third in addition to RBIs from Taylor Wilson and Gennie Aul. Abby Gray, Josa Burris, and Aul plated runs late to extend the lead to 9-0. Davidson picked up with win, pitching 5 scoreless innings and striking out 9 hitters.

Pool play continued against Westminster Rockets. Lyla Plummer hit her first home run of the season in the second to give the girls a 2-0 lead. After Burris scored on an error in the third, Charley LaBarbera added another with an RBI single. Rockets would cut the deficit in half in their half of the inning, but Burris would score another run to extend the lead to three. However, the opposition would rally in the final inning, scoring four runs, and Scream fell 6-5. Abby Heidrich pitched 4.1 innings, allowed 3 earned runs, adding 1 strikeout.

The final game on Saturday was versus Jersey Outlaws. Heidrich and Megan Sparks provided the only two hits, as Scream fell 6-0. Ella Lee allowed 5 runs on 8 hits over 3.1 innings of work.

Sunday’s action began against Keystone State Bombers. A pitcher’s duel broke out, with the game staying scoreless for the first four innings. In the fifth, Davidson doubled, and Gray reached on an error to give the girls a 1-0 lead. After Lee and Abby Eckstein reached in the sixth inning, Heidrich drove both in with a 2-run triple. LaBarbera drove her in one batter later to give Scream a 4-0 lead. This was enough for starter Sparks (6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K) to secure a 4-1 win.

The next game was versus Mechanicsburg Roar. After an early run from the opposition, Bella Rosselli drove in two in the second. An inning later, Eckstein led off with a triple and was brought in by Heidrich. Davidson added another a few batters later to make the score 4-1. This was enough, as starter Davidson would only surrender three hits over four innings of work, clinching a spot in the semifinals.

Scream’s semifinal game was against Steel City Athletics. Eckstein scored on a Davidson fielder’s choice in the first, but the opposition quickly answered, making the score 1-1. They would score seven unanswered runs before Gray would plate two runs and LaBarbera scored on a wild pitch. However, it was not enough, as Scream fell 8-4. Heidrich started and surrendered 2 earned runs in 2 innings before making way to Sparks, who allowed 1 earned run in an inning and a third of work.

Next Up: Scream is back on the road, as they head to Ocean City, MD. The action begins Friday, June 19.
